Founded in 1973, Boc started out as a small shoe shop in Seville, Spain specializing in handcrafted leather shoes and sandals. As the company grew, we expanded our product line while staying true to our heritage of Old World craftsmanship and commitment to premium materials.

Today, Boc offers a wide range of footwear including sandals, pumps, wedges, flats, heels, boots, clogs, loafers, sneakers, slippers and more. Our Heritage

Boc began as a small Spanish shoe company founded in 1973 by Antonio Segui. As a third-generation shoemaker, Antonio built upon his family’s expertise designing and handcrafting leather footwear in their hometown of Seville. The business eventually expanded across Europe under the name Bocacis, derived from the Spanish “boca” meaning mouth and “cis” meaning kiss – a nod to the distinctive lip-shaped heel found on early Bocacis clogs.

Expanding Globally

In 1979, Bocacis caught the eye of Vision Quest Industries, a U.S. footwear distributor looking to bring comfortable, fashion-forward European designs to the American market. A partnership was formed to introduce Bocacis shoes to consumers across North America.

The brand anglicized its name to Bøc and opened a U.S. headquarters in Massachusetts. Throughout the 1980s and 90s, Bøc gained a loyal following for their stylish spin on clogs, sandals and boots enhanced with comfort technologies. Antonio Segui continued leading European design and manufacturing while Vision Quest managed distribution and sales stateside.

Recent History

In the early 2000s, Bøc was acquired by Collective Brands, Inc. Operations moved from Massachusetts to their headquarters in Topeka, Kansas where the brand joined a portfolio including Saucony, Sperry and Keds. Bøc dropped the slashed ø and became simply Boc.

Collective Brands was purchased by Wolverine Worldwide in 2012. In 2015, Boc brand operations were shifted under their Sperry umbrella still based in Lexington, Massachusetts. Today, Boc continues thriving as a fashionable lifestyle brand grounded in quality craftsmanship and everyday comfort.

As the Chairman, CEO and President of parent company Wolverine Worldwide, Diane Sullivan heads up our team. This trailblazing executive joined Wolverine over 20 years ago and became their first female CEO in 2012. Under her leadership, Wolverine has empowered its portfolio of brands to thrive while upholding values of compassion and community impact.

Joelle Grunberg – VP General Manager, Global Lifestyle Group

Our passionate General Manager Joelle Grunberg leads strategy, development and marketing for Boc. With 15+ years of experience growing lifestyle brands like Sperry, Saucony, Keds and Kate Spade, Joelle keeps Boc’s focus on crafting shoes women truly love to wear. Her commitment to core values of quality, inclusivity and sustainability steer the Boc brand.

Miguel Martinez – Senior Design Director

As Senior Design Director, Miguel Martinez oversees product design and materials innovation. With roots in Spanish footwear craftsmanship, Miguel upholds Boc’s heritage of premium quality while pushing boundaries of style. He works cross-functionally to infuse Boc shoes with the perfect balance of fashion and comfort.

Julia LaFata – Digital Marketing Manager

Digital Marketing Manager Julia LaFata develops initiatives to deliver an engaging customer experience across Boc’s digital platforms including email, social media, influencer collaborations and online content. She employs data-driven strategies coupled with compelling storytelling to share Boc’s core mission and connect with our community in meaningful ways.

Monica Hernandez – Sales Director

Monica Hernandez manages our wholesale partner relationships as Sales Director. With years of experience consulting for major retailers like DSW and Zappos, Monica provides expertise negotiating partnerships that align with Boc’s brand vision. She ensures our shoes reach as many fashion lovers as possible through selective distribution both online and in-store.
